基于直流平衡的电子纸驱动方法的研究

Electronic paper driving schemes based on DC balance

  • 摘要: 作为一种类纸显示设备,电子纸已经被广泛应用于各个领域,然而,电子纸的驱动系统仍需进一步改善,用以提升电子纸的显示性能。在电子纸驱动过程中,各级灰阶的显示均没有固定的阈值电压;因此,电子纸需要利用驱动波形来显示一个特定的灰阶。直流平衡是驱动波形设计中的一个非常重要的因素,直流不平衡时,显示屏将容易被损坏并且会影响显示屏的使用寿命。本文基于直流平衡提出了两种驱动方案,其中一种是在灰阶循环变化过程中实现直流平衡;另外一种驱动方案是基于单一的灰阶变化的直流平衡方式。本文提出的驱动方案效果良好,可应用在商业化的E-ink电泳显示屏中。

     

    Abstract: As a novel display device, electronic paper has been widely used in various fields; however, the electronic paper driving system still needs to be further improved for the better performance. During the driving process, the electrophoretic display (EPD) screen has no fixed threshold voltage value for gray scale display. Therefore, a driving scheme is required for displaying a specific gray scale. DC balance is a very important influence factor for display screens, and it could damage the screen and then influence the display life time if the DC had not been unbalanced. In this paper, two kinds of driving schemes are proposed based on DC balance. One driving scheme is to achieve DC balance during the gray scale circulation. The other is to achieve DC balance based one single gray scale transformation. Experimental results show that the proposed methods in this paper show good performance on commercial E-ink EPD devices.
