High power 2μm Optical Parametric Oscillator Based on MgO:PPLN

  • A high-power near-infrared laser at 2m was demonstrated, the laser was based on quasi-phase-matched periodically poled LiNbO3 optical parametric oscillator(MgO:PPLN OPO).Trough OPO experiments based on MgO:PPLN pumped by a 1m Nd:YVO4 laser, we got 5.3W laser output in the 2m band when the pump power was 7.2W, the conversion efficiency is up to 74%. In order to get higher output power and improve the stability of output laser, we used Nd:YAG laser as pumping source, which was optimized to have higher output power and beam quality. When the pumping power is 25W, the output power of 9.5W was obtained at the wavelength of 2m.
