The Effects of Curcumin on The Ovarian Aging in Zebrafish

  • Curcumin has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that can help delay the aging process of the body to a certain extent. To further explore the role of curcumin in ovarian aging, zebrafish were used as an ovarian aging model, and the feeding drug treatment method was used for continuous treatment for 1 month. The spawning function was tested at the same time as the drug treatment until the end of the drug treatment. In addition, the histological changes of the ovaries were analyzed, and the expression of related genes in the reproductive axis was detected. The experimental results showed that: (1)Curcumin treatment at concentrations of 4 mM and 8 mM could increase the number of eggs laid by aging ovaries to a certain extent; (2)The fertilization rate of oocytes and the survival rate of fertilized eggs in the 8 mM drug treatment group were significantly improved; (3)Ovarian histological examination also showed that the ovaries in the 8 mM drug treatment group were in a healthier state; (4)8 mM curcumin treatment increased the expression of gnrh3 and inhibited the expression of gh; (5)The expression of arom in the ovaries showed a downward trend in both the 4 mM and 8 mM drug treatment groups. The results of this study suggest that curcumin may improve the health of the ovaries and delay the aging of the ovaries to a certain extent by regulating the expression of related genes in the reproductive axis.
