Research Progress on MOF-based Photocatalysts Based on Ligand Engineering Strategy

  • Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have attracted extensive attention in the field of photocatalysis due to their flexible and adjustable structures. Bridging ligands play an indispensable role in photocatalysis as antennas for MOFs to capture light. Based on the architectural relationship between the bridging ligand and the MOFs ontology, the functionalization of the bridging ligand of intrinsic MOFs is expected to achieve more diverse structures and unique functions of MOFs, and then optimize the "generation-separation-utilization" pathway of photogenerated carriers. Based on the ligand engineering of MOFs, this paper summarizes the modification strategies of different ligands and their photocatalytic reaction mechanisms in an orderly manner, explains in detail the influence of functional regulation on the catalytic performance of MOFs materials, and puts forward corresponding insights and prospects for this strategy.
