More Information
  • Received Date: June 19, 2022

  • The status of western art geography research in the past 30 years is classified and summarized from the four aspects of the number of published papers, citation frequency, paper sources and research institutions by sorting out the development of western art geography. The research cases of four hot topics in western art geography, namely art and urban development, interdisciplinary intersection and integration, art and gender, and "the other" and the body, art and colonization, race and immigration, are sorted out in order to enrich the relevant research on western art geography. The feasibility of the research path of Chinese art geography is discussed and the proposal that the research on Chinese art geography can make methodological breakthrough and theoretical innovation from three aspects, namely the expansion of discipline, the interaction between art and place, and the multi-scale of perspective and method, is put forth.
