An efficient visible-light-driven AgCl/AgBr composite photocatalyst was fabricated through a simple precipitation process. The crystal structure, morphology and light absorption properties of the silver matrix composite were characterized with X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) and UVvis diffuse reflection spectroscopy (DRS). The as-prepared AgCl/AgBr composite was used to degradate tetrabromobisphenol A under visible-light irradiation. It is found that AgCl/AgBr could degradate TBBPA almost completely in 30min and the degradation rate was 98.49%. Finally, the possible photocatalytic mechanism of the AgCl/AgBr composite was discussed, and it was found that ?OH and ?O2 ? were the main active materials and the photocatalyst prevented the recombination of electron-hole pairs during the reaction, which contributed to the excellent performance of the photocatalytic activity.
