Preparation, Release and Bactericidal Properties of Peroxymonosulfate Microspheres

  • In order to improve the stability of peroxymonosulfate and slow down the decline rate of its effective ingredients, the core was prepared with the extrusion spheronization method and further coated with sustained release microspheres using peroxymonosulfate complex salt as raw material. The cumulative release was used as the index to optimize the process by single factor test. The results showed that when the mass fraction of polyethylene glycol-6000 is 35%, the mass fraction of the potassium persulfate composite salt is 30%, the blocking agent is 0.05 g/mL, the porogen is 0.003 g/mL and the fat-soluble membrane is 7 layers, the microspheres had good film-forming ability, round shape and obvious membrane pores, and the cumulative release rate is 95.39% within 12 h, which is in line with the Higuchi release model, and the release mechanism is mainly Fick diffusion. The effective bactericidal concentrations of Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus are 2.0 g/L.
