硅基片上模式复用技术进展

Mode Division Multiplexing on a Silicon Chip

  • 摘要: 模式复用作为光通信的一个复用维度,最近成为国际上的研究热点。本文综述了最近应用于硅基片上模式复用的相关进展,并介绍了一些核心器件及其性能,如:总线波导、复用/解复用器、光纤接口以及多模光开关等。本文从这些器件的工作原理,分析比较了他们的性能特点和优缺点,并展望了硅基片上模式复用的发展趋势。

     

    Abstract: Mode division multiplexing, as one of independent multiplexing dimensions of an optical signal, has drawn a lot of research interest in recently years. This paper reviews the related works concerning on-chip mode division multiplexing technology based on a silicon chip. Some core components and structure, as well as their performances, are discussed, such as, bus waveguides, (de)multiplexers, interfaces to multimode fibers, multimode switches, etc. The working principles of them are introduced, together with some comparative analyses. Future trend for this type of on-chip mode division multiplexing is also discussed.
