Abstract
The constructed wetland process was applied to treat rural domestic sewage. The results showed that the abilities of diferent macrophyte species to remove nitrogen and phosphorous were quite different with each other.Acorus calamus Linn has stronger ability to remove TP and NH3-N . After 7 days of treatment, the rates of Acorus calamus Linn, Thalia dealbata and Pontederia cordata to remove TP and NH3-N were 93.4% and 77.6%, 72.4% and 71.6%,70.4% and 70.9% respectively. The effluent quality meets the first class standard specified in the discharge limits of water pollutants of Guangdong Procince (DB44/26-2001). This process has the characteristics of low investment, good treatment effect, simple operation and low maintenance cost.
