Abstract
Cerium-doped activated carbon catalyst (Ce/AC) was prepared using dipping method to degrade dimethyl phthalate in water. Activated carbon (AC) and Ce/AC were characterized by XRD and SEM. The effects of cerium content and catalyst dosage on catalytic ozonation of DMP were investigated. The results showed that the catalytic activity reached optimal when 0.2 % cerium was doped onto AC support and the optimal dosages of Ce/AC catalyst was 1.5 g/L. Compared with the native activated carbon, Ce/AC could notably enhance the catalytic ozonation of DMP. The TOC removal rate using Ce/AC catalyst at 60 min could reach 68 %, while 48 % using AC catalyst and only 22 % using ozone alone.
