Characteristics and Risk Assessment of Priority-Controlled Chemicals in Water Environment of Chemical Industrial Parks

  • A list of priority-controlled chemicals was made according to the relevant toxicity data of pollutants in water environment and the basic information of the Changshou chemical industrial park, which is in Chongqing city and adjacent to the Yangtze River, in order to fully understand the concentration and distribution of the key pollutants in the surrounding water discharged by the running industrial park and to evaluate the effect of these pollutants on the environment and organisms. Eight sampling sites inside and outside the industrial park and in the surrounding river basin were selected for monitoring. The results showed that pollutants such as trichloromethane, zinc and carbon tetrachloride in the sewage treatment plant in the park have high ecological risks and that chromium and zinc found in the water samples of the surrounding Yangtze river also have high ecological risks. The research result can be the basis for proper management and risk prevention and control of chemical pollution in the industrial park.
