Abstract
In this paper, the LiMn2O4 scraps from spent Lithium ion batteries are designed to be transferred to MnS, which can be used as an active material for supercapacitor. The cathode scraps are dissolved and leached firstly, then the concentration of the leaching solution is adjusted with S-sources are added too, finally the MnS materials are obtained by hydrothermal the leaching solution. XRD, SEM, TEM and BET results show that the MnS can exhibit excellent crystal structure and good capacitor character. By investigating the impacts of Mn2+ concentration to the performance of the final products, some interesting results are obtained. It seems that the Mn2+ concentration has vital impact on the morphology of the MnS products and specific surface area. When the Mn2+ concentration equals to 0.5 M, MnS with 3D flower-like radiating structure can be obtained. This structure can enhance the contact between the material and electrolyte, resulting in better electrochemical performance. This paper can provide a new way in recycling of cathode scraps, which worth to be further investigated.
