Manipulating Surface Plasmon Polaritons: Principles and Research Progress

In recent years, enormous progress on the application of surface plasmon polaritons in the fields of physics, biology, etc. For the application of surface plasmon polariton in photonic/plasmonic integrated circuits, the research progress of mechanisms that manipulate surface plasmon polariton, such as transmission of long-range modes, gain compensation to transmission loss, switch and modulation, are reviewed in this paper.
