Manipulating Surface Plasmon Polaritons: Principles and Research Progress

  • In recent years, enormous progress on the application of surface plasmon polaritons in the fields of physics, biology, etc. For the application of surface plasmon polariton in photonic/plasmonic integrated circuits, the research progress of mechanisms that manipulate surface plasmon polariton, such as transmission of long-range modes, gain compensation to transmission loss, switch and modulation, are reviewed in this paper.
