Abstract:
Based on the research on core sediments of Xiahengli,Shanghengli and the junction of Hengli and Jiaomen of Nansha estuary, the adsorption of phosphorus were studied. The results showed that sorption behavior of phosphorus on sediment samples could be better in line with the Langmuir equation. Adsorption occurs mainly within the first 11 h, and reaches a dynamic balance in nearly 24 h. The phosphorus adsorption rate of sediment achieved maximum value in 0.5 h. The adsorption capacity of sediment samples was more than 250 mg/kg, and sediments collected at 30 - 40 cm from the surface had the largest adsorption capacity. Salinity of the water above the sediments affects adsorption of phosphate by sediment. When the salinity increased from 3 to 5, the adsorption capacity of sediment decreased from 294 mg/kg to 135 mg/kg.
