Abstract:
The aim of this study was to measure the changes in cellular glucose intake and carbohydrate metabolism in mouse C2C12 skeletal muscle cells,so as to discuss the effect that skeletal muscle cells carbohydrate metabolism by electrical stimulation of different time as well as the possible mechanism. Glycogen consumption increased continuously with prolonged contraction of skeletal muscle cells. The capacity of glucose translocation across the cell membrane would be enhanced with the increase of contraction time. The activity of glycogen synthase might be increased due to declining muscle glycogen reserves after 60 and 120 min electrical stimulation. And all of these changes were possibly regulated by AMPK signaling pathway.
