Abstract:
The acute toxicities of bisphenol A (BPA ) to the Asian clams (Corbicula fluminea) and the toxic effects of BPA on the oxygen consumption rate (OCR), the ammonia excretory rate (AER), and the activity of antioxidant enzymes including superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT) in the clams at the concentrations of 1/2 LC50, 1/4 LC50, 1/8 LC50, 1/10 LC50 of BPA were investigated. The results showed that the 96 h-LC50 of BPA to the clams was 6.34 mg·L-1. The sensitive response of OCR, AER, SOD and CAT of the clams to BPA exposure in the range of 0.63 mg·L-1~3.17 mg·L-1 showed a typical pattern. This may indicate that BPA had oxidative stress and toxic effects on the growth of Asian clams.
