Abstract: Based on the discussion of the origin and formation history of the folk place names of Xisha and Nansha Islands, this paper introduced the specific names and amount of folk place names in Genglubu and relative investigation. It also pointed out the significance of folk place names to the fact that the territorial sovereignty of Xisha and Nansha Islands belong to China.
