Abstract:
Effects of three feeding methods on siloxane modified acrylate emulsion polymerization stability and properties of emulsion were studied. The results of monomer conversion rate, gel content and latex particles size analyses showed that properties of emulsion using semi-continuance seed emulsion method were better than that using batch and pre-emulsification method, the conversion rate of monomer was 97%, gel content less then 0.6%, average particle size was 100nm and with a narrow distribution. Effects of compounded emulsifier ratio and amount on properties of emulsion were studied. Test results showed that when ratio of m(anion emulsifier)/m(nonionic emulsifier) /m(amphoteric emulsifier) was equal to 2:1:1, amount of compounded emulsifier was 4%, good performance of emulsion can be obtained, and total reactive emulsifier DNS-86 can be feed with other kinds emulsifier synchronously. FTIR and TEM analyses farther showed that silicone-acrylate emulsion with good morphology and narrow particles size distribution can be obtained by semi-continuance seed emulsion method under optimized emulsifier system condition.
