Abstract:
The co-deposition method was employed to prepare the nickel-graphene composite coating deposited on the copper substrate. The X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM) and energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS) were used to characterize the surface morphology, element type and material structure of the composite coating. The samples were immersed in the seawater to test the corrosion resistance of the composite material. The results show that the prepared nickel-graphene composite coating is continuous and composed of fine grains, with graphene interspersed among nickel particles, when the current density is 5 A/dm
2. The nickel particles encased in graphene are deposited on the surface of the copper substrate and can effectively prevent the corrosion of acid radical and alkaline ion in the sea water. The composite coating significantly enhances the anticorrosion performance. The study can provide reference for developing methods of metal anticorrosion in marine and ocean engineering.
