Abstract:
The collection of the edge textures and the ghost image in electrophoretic display (EPD) requires avoiding the interference of outside light conditions, including the direction of the light source, lighting and shade, color and so on. A image filtering method based on Gabor filters is proposed to reduce the lighting interference in the process of collecting EPD images. For a single gray-scale image which is interfered by the lighting, the Gabor filters are used to reduce the influence of illumination variation and noise in the image, and then the edge compensation is performed by the closed operation. For the color image subjected to light interference, the
R,
G and
B components of the image are extracted first. The components are then subjected to filtering with the Gabor filters, and finally the three components are recombined into the color image. The experimental results show that the elimination rate of light interference in single gray-scale image and color image is 39.9% and 39.7% respectively. The results of this study are of great significance in reducing the light interference introduced in EPD image collection.
