Abstract:
Heterogeneous Fenton is widely used in the treatment of antibiotic wastewater. In order to select the best heterogeneous Fenton catalyst which is the lowest cost and effective, the Fe0, Fe3O4, Fe2O3 and -FeOOH were used to be the catalyst for tetracycline degradation in this work. The physicochemical properties of four materials were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Brunnaer-Emmett-Teller (BET) surface area analyzer and laser particle size analyzer (LDI). The optimum reaction conditions were selected by effects of four catalysts loading, hydrogen peroxide concentration and initial pH. The kinetics of removal tetracycline was studied by comparing four heterogeneous Fenton catalysts. The result showed that Fe0 is the best catalytic for degradation of tetracycline (88.77% of tetracycline was removed), which is suitable for a wide range of pH in the reaction and low prices. In addition, the removal efficiency of the total organic carbon (TOC) and reusability was studied by comparing four heterogeneous Fenton catalysts. Finally, we systematically selected that Fe0 was the best catalyst for heterogeneous Fenton degradation of tetracycline.
