Abstract:
The study sample is comprised of 1050 park visitors of 10 urban parks in Guangzhou with equal distance sampling. The collected data is produced by SPSS17.0 and LISREL8.7. Reliability analyses, confirmatory factor analysis and correlation analysis are used to validate the scale of park attachment. The results show that the cronbach's alpha of the scale support a high internal consistency of park attachment scale and two dimensions of park attachment. Confirmatory factor analyses of the ten data sets demonstrated that the scale was a valid measure of park attachment and provided the evidence for the two-dimensional structure. Factor loadings of park attachment also suggest that park dependence dimension can be reliably measured with six questionnaire items while park identity dimension can only be measured with five questionnaire items. This study is to target the measure of place attachment in urban park, extending the application of place attachment scale from the suburb recreational place to the urban recreational settings. It also expands the study of the measure scale of place attachment and establishes the foundation for elaborating a general measure tool of place attachment. These findings also provide evidence indicating that the park attachment scale revised into Chinese version with localized language is a reliable and valid of place attachment scale and could be applied to the place research in China.
