Abstract:
Stem cell niches are dynamic microenvironments that balance stem cell renewal, differentiation and the engagement of programs in response to stress. Recent work have improved our understanding of the mechanisms responsible for the specification and maintenance of stem cell niche in the root meristems using mutant screening and live imaging. In this review, we summarize recent findings regarding the role of transcriptional networks, hormone signaling, chromatin factors and genome organization factors in regulating root stem cell niche.
