Abstract:
Objective: To analyze the somatotype of the adult of Hakka in Guangdong. Methods: The Heath-Carter somatotyping method is used to study the somatotype of 332 urban adults (151 males and 181 females) and 339 rural adults (162 males and 177 females) of Hakka in Guangdong province. Results: The mean somatotype for urban male is 4.2-4.6-2.2, for rural male 4.1-4.7-2.2; The mean somatotype for urban female is5.3-4.6-1.7, for rural female 5.3-4.8-1.5. Conclusion: (1) The mean somatotype values of the urban male represent the endomorph-mesomorph category; The mean somatotype values of the rural male represent the Endomorphic Mesomorph .The mean somatotype values of the urban and rural female represent mesomorphic endomorph category. (2) With their age increasing, the values of Endomorphy and the values of Mesomorphy are increased and decreased in sequence, while the values of Ectomorphy decreased in males. The values of Mesomorphy and the values of Endomorphy are increased, while the values of Ectomorphy decrease in females. (3) There are significant differences between gender, but no differences between urban and rural Hakka. (4)The somatotype of Hakka in Guangdong adults is close to those of Han(Shandong)、Han(Inner Mongolia)、Han(Sichuan), but it is stand off Han(Guangxi).(5)The somatotype of Hakka of rural adults is close to those of Mongol, Daur、Oroqen、Ewenk and it is stand off those of Zhuang nationality and Gelao.
